Zelensky introduces UAV systems: Ukraine modernizes its defense

Innovative Step towards Modernization

In a new progressive step, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has put forward an initiative that sets the task for the Cabinet of Ministers and the General Staff of the Armed Forces to create Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Forces within the structure of the Ukrainian army. This decision, enshrined in Presidential Decree No. 51/2024, opens a new chapter in the modernization and strengthening of the country’s defense capabilities.

Effectiveness of Unmanned Systems

According to the President, unmanned systems have already proven their high effectiveness on battlefields, in the air, on land, and at sea. In particular, the use of drones has significantly changed the situation in the Black Sea and played a key role in a series of ground operations, becoming a factor that influenced Ukraine’s success in countering aggression.

Clear Tasks for Creation of UAV Forces

The President emphasized that the list of tasks for the creation of new Forces is clear: special staff positions for working with drones, special units and their effective training, systematization of experience, constant scaling of production, and attracting the best ideas and specialists in this field.

United Efforts for Defense Potential

This initiative is a shared task for the army, the Ministry of Defense, and the government, emphasizing the importance of united efforts on the path to increasing the country’s defense potential.
