Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his opinion on the freezing of the war with Russia. Speaking at the Ronald Reagan Institute in Washington, he explained that the best way to end the conflict is through the organization of a second International Peace Summit and the development of a plan, but only if there is pressure from the world community on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Zelensky rejected the idea of freezing the war
pointing out that the presence of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory confirms that the conflict will only be temporarily suspended. He also compared potential agreements with Putin to the ineffective Munich Agreement of 1938 with Hitler, emphasizing the threat that Russia poses to Ukrainian statehood.
Experts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW)
explained that it is not in Putin’s interest to freeze the war, as he seeks the complete destruction of Ukrainian identity and statehood. This indicates his intention to destroy Ukraine, so he will not agree to any deal that does not meet his own conditions.
Ukrainian military expert Oleksandr Musiyenko
warned that Russian occupation forces will prolong the conflict to force Ukraine to agree to a freeze, but the crucial moment will come when Ukraine approaches NATO.
There is also consideration of a possible negotiated ceasefire and freezing of the war according to the Korean scenario, but this could lead to an even greater catastrophe for the West and Ukraine. Therefore, the search for the optimal solution to this issue is ongoing.
