Suspicion of robbery: a previously convicted resident of Rivne district has been detained

26-year-old charged with robbery during martial law conditions

A 26-year-old resident of Rivne district has been charged with a robbery attack that occurred during martial law conditions. The man attacked a cashier at a supermarket on Zamkova Street in Rivne.

The incident took place on May 21st. The perpetrator, wearing a mask and a hood, sprayed the cashier’s face with gas from an aerosol can and then threatened her with a knife, demanding money from the cash register.

However, the victim skillfully locked the cash register, so the robber was unable to take any money. A witness in the store started calling for help, and the perpetrator had to flee.

Police quickly identified the attacker. It turned out to be a man who had a previous conviction for robbery at a gas station.

The culprit was arrested and charged. The issue of selecting a preventive measure in the form of detention is currently being decided.

Under the article he is charged with, the punishment includes imprisonment for a term of 8 to 15 years with property confiscation.

Important: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law and by a verdict of the court.
