Russian shelling causes significant damage to agribusiness in Donbas

In the agricultural complex of Donetsk region since the beginning of full-scale war, from February 2022, enemy shelling has caused significant losses. This was reported by the director of the department of agricultural development and land relations of Donetsk Regional State Administration, Artem Chagan, to Ukrinform.

Losses in Livestock and Poultry

«As a result of enemy shelling, a significant part of livestock and poultry have been destroyed, and many animal premises have been ruined. Poultry farming suffered the most, with 1.2 million birds lost. Overall, in the pig farming sector, the losses amount to over 25,000 animals,» Chagan noted.

Total Losses in Animal Husbandry

He also added that the total losses in animal husbandry in Donetsk region due to the full-scale war are estimated at 1.1 billion hryvnias, with the biggest losses in agricultural enterprises on the front line and in the occupied territories.
