The political analyst Petro Oleshchuk discusses the decision of the Supreme Court of Ukraine to return the oil pipeline to state ownership.
Oleshchuk claims that during the time when the pipeline was in an unmanaged state, Ukraine was losing around $41-42 million per year.
«Let’s calculate. The nominal value of the pipeline is only $23 million. The annual income from it was $41-42 million. The pipeline was owned by unknown individuals from 2016 to 2021. It is easy to see that the loss amounted to $210 million. And who should compensate for it? Obviously, the oligarch who benefited from the pipeline, namely Petro Alekseevich,» the analyst emphasizes.
According to him, the oil pipeline became an asset of Poroshenko with the help of Medvedchuk in 2016 in exchange for the lost plant of Poroshenko in Crimea, which was nationalized by Russia.
«According to the investigative journalist Yuri Nikolov, the pipeline was a kind of compensation from Putin to Poroshenko for the plant in Crimea, which went into the ownership of Russia. It was a kind of gratitude from Putin to Poroshenko for the plant in Crimea. By the way, as Medvedchuk himself reported, almost all key figures of the state apparatus were involved in the scheme with the pipeline, starting from President Poroshenko and ending with ministers and law enforcement agencies, as well as those who carried out this scheme,» Oleshchuk notes.
