Demining efforts in Donetsk region forests ongoing
In Donetsk region, Limansky forestry has been completely contaminated with explosive objects: at the moment, thousands of hectares of forest out of 27 thousand have been cleared. In Sloviansky forestry, about 700 hectares out of two thousand cleared have been replaced. This was reported by the director of the State Enterprise «Sloviansky forestry» Serhii Oleinyk during a briefing.
Collaboration for forest demining
He clarified that the demining is carried out by the State Emergency Service pyrotechnics and military units.
Forest damage due to fires
Currently, about 15 thousand hectares of forest plantations have been damaged by fires. As a result of fires during hostilities, coniferous plantations suffered, specifically about ten thousand hectares in Limansky forestry and about five thousand in Sloviansky forestry.
Damages in other areas
«There are also damages in the occupied territories and in areas where hostilities are ongoing, namely Yampilsky and Chasoviarsky forestry,» Serhii Oleinyk said.
Reforestation efforts
According to him, last year, about 50 hectares of trees were planted in Sloviansky forestry, and about 10 hectares of young forest were planted in Limansky.
