The director of the general contracting organization in Kyiv has been charged with two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for causing million losses during the construction of the Podilskyi Bridge, according to the capital’s prosecutor’s office.
«The head of the general contracting organization has been informed of suspicion of embezzlement of budget funds in particularly large amounts (part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),» the statement said.
According to the investigation, in April 2017, a contract was signed between the Kyiv City Administration «Directorate for the Construction of Road and Transport Structures» and the general contractor for the construction of the Podilskyi Bridge over the Dnipro River in Kyiv.
Later, in June 2023, acts of acceptance of completed construction works were signed between the Kyiv City Administration «Directorate for the Construction of Road and Transport Structures,» the general contractor, and the subcontracting organization for the expenses related to the operation of machinery and equipment — diesel compressors, cranes, drilling pumps, drilling rig.
The pricing for the rented equipment was based on the norms of the State Standard of Ukraine, according to which the project cost estimates were prepared.
According to the conclusion of the construction and technical expertise, the overstatement of expenses for renting equipment amounted to over 24 million UAH.
