Brutal Assault on a Soldier in Odessa: 30,000 Hryvnias Missing

Beating and Robbery of Military Serviceman in Odessa

A terrible incident occurred in the Podilsky district of Odessa last weekend, where a military serviceman was brutally beaten and robbed. The victim’s sister, Elena, reported that a group of five men broke into her brother’s house and tortured him. It is alleged that the attack was organized by the serviceman’s wife, with whom he was in the process of divorcing due to her alcoholism and infidelity while he served on the front lines.

According to Elena, the attackers tied her brother’s hands with his own t-shirt and repeatedly beat him, pouring water on him to keep him conscious. A neighbor’s intervention scared off the criminals, but not before a large sum of money, 30,000 hryvnias, was stolen from the victim.

The military serviceman underwent surgery for his jaw at the hospital and is currently reliant on a feeding tube to eat. The Podilsky district police department has identified the attackers and initiated a criminal case under Articles 122 and 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The qualification of the crime may change pending further expert analysis.
