According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the national currency remains the most popular choice for deposits among Ukrainians. As of the beginning of this year, the number of such deposits in banks reached 57.9 million.
Despite the full-scale war with Russia and the unfavorable economic situation, Ukrainian citizens continue to trust banks. According to the NBU, as of the beginning of 2024, banks of the Fund for Guaranteeing Deposits of Individuals (FGVFL) held 1 trillion 234.8 billion hryvnias. This indicates stable activity of the population in the financial sector.
It is worth noting that as of January 1, 2024, 63 banks participating in the FGVFL had 67.7 million deposits. Particularly noteworthy is the preference for the national currency: 57.9 million deposits totaling 796 billion hryvnias. Deposits in foreign currency amounted to 9.8 million, totaling 438 billion hryvnias.
