Expansion of the border transshipment hub in Malashevich: a new stage in the development of the China-Europe transport corridor

Expansion of Border Transshipment Hub in Malaszewicze Underway

At the beginning of June, a large-scale project to expand the capacity of the border transshipment hub in Malaszewicze, a key hub on the China-Europe railway transport corridor, was launched. CTS reports this information with reference to Biala Sie Dzieje.

The company Cargotor, a subsidiary of the Polish state operator of railway infrastructure PKP PLK, has submitted a construction journal to the Lublin Voivodeship government for the construction of a logistics park in Malaszewicze.

Currently, the selection of a contractor for construction is underway through a tender process. The first stage of applications for participation in the tender closes on January 10, 2025.

The project has received funding of 3.2 billion zlotys (744 million euros) from the government and aims to double the capacity of the transshipment hub.

Upon completion of the reconstruction in 2028, the throughput capacity of the border hub will nearly double, from 16 to 35 pairs of trains, with the maximum train length increasing from 750 to 1000 meters.
