A new scandal has erupted around Britney Spears, this time related not to her personal life but to her work. Singer Halsey released a song using the melody of Britney Spears’ track «Lucky» to talk about her serious health problems. In the music video, Halsey also recreated the pop princess image.
Britney Spears found this act offensive and wrote on social media: «Today I am consulting with my lawyers to understand what can be done about this matter. It seems illegal and downright cruel.»
Halsey quickly responded to this statement by writing on her page: «I love you, Britney! You continue to inspire me every day,» and claimed that she had asked for permission before recording the song.
Later, Britney deleted her post and reported that her account had been hacked by intruders who wrote the negative comments about Halsey. Spears also noted that she adores the singer and admires her.
