Sins: New music video by Nastya Kamensky and Ostrovskyi reveals symbolism and mysteries

The new music video «Sins» by Nastya Kamensky and Ostrovskyi instantly became a hit on YouTube, conquering the trends.

Exclusively for RBC-Ukraine, the artists shared details about the process of creating this video masterpiece and its profound symbolism.

Description of the «Sins» video shoot

The video shoot lasted several days and took place in a captivating atmospheric location — one of the historical buildings in Kyiv, which is over a century old.

The story of the song originated from Ostrovskyi’s personal story of meeting his beloved.

According to the artist, he was able to confess his mistakes on the first day of their acquaintance, which opened the way to understanding. He emphasized that her great mercy and acceptance of him helped create the foundation for their relationship, which inspired the song «Sins.»

The director of this video was the renowned author of short films Yura Katinsky, who had previously worked with such famous performers as Onuka, DakhaBrakha, Alina Pash, PARFENIUK, the Lithuanian band Beissoul & Einius, and others.

«In our video, we used the metaphor of ‘Sins,’ which unfolds through the images of Ostrovskyi and NK. We tried to show that it is important to maintain our dignity in any relationship, not allowing blind attachment to take over us. Therefore, this work includes numerous symbols reflecting this idea,» explained Katinsky.

Symbolism in the «Sins» video

The video is filled with numerous metaphors that emphasize the profound symbolism of each detail.

The projector that plays photos symbolizes the impossibility of forgetting the past and erasing memories that remain in our minds.

The black liquid flowing from the skin of the main character and various objects embodies dirt and betrayal, from which it is impossible to get rid of, even when we desperately want to.

The scene where the hero is doused with cold water from a hose symbolizes cleansing from the past, when it is necessary to separate oneself from negative experiences decisively.

The switch that Kamensky’s heroine turns off emphasizes that in life there are situations when it is important to know how to stop and move on to a new stage.

This video has become a true creative explosion and has already gained huge success among fans of music and visual art.
