The Verdict on Hunter Biden’s Federal Case
The jury announced the verdict on June 11 in the federal case of Hunter Biden for illegal possession of a weapon. This is the first time a close relative of the acting U.S. president has been found guilty in a criminal case during his term in office, although the crime occurred before Joe Biden became president.
The jury found the son of the American leader guilty on all three counts of the indictment, including providing false information when obtaining firearms permits and illegal possession of a weapon. Hunter Biden faces a maximum sentence of up to 25 years in prison and a fine of $750,000 for all charges.
In December 2023, the U.S. Department of Justice brought a new criminal case against Hunter Biden, accusing him of tax evasion on nine counts. In September 2024, Biden’s son will face another case in California court, where he is suspected of tax payment violations.
