Apple’s iPhone Support Policy: Changes on the Horizon
Apple has always been praised for its robust software support for the iPhone, but recent developments suggest a shift in their strategy. While the tech giant has never made explicit promises regarding the duration of support, they are now setting a five-year support period for the iPhone, falling behind Google and Samsung’s seven-year commitment.
In response to new regulations in the UK, Apple has announced a minimum support term for the iPhone 15 lineup. The Pro Max variant will receive at least five years of updates, showcasing Apple’s dedication to meeting minimum standards. Despite being shorter than Android’s support cycles, Apple has a history of extending support beyond initial commitments — for instance, the iPhone 6s received updates for six years after its launch in 2015.
