The aggressor state Russia has destroyed over 210,000 buildings in Ukraine
The aggressor state Russia has destroyed more than 210,000 buildings in various parts of Ukraine. This level of destruction is rarely seen in history, even since World War II. This was reported by The New York Times, citing leading experts in remote sensing.
According to the analysis conducted by Corey Sherr from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and Hamon Van Den Huk from the University of Oregon, it was found that each building that suffered damage or was destroyed after the Russian invasion in 2022 was carefully analyzed. Russia was able to cause damage over a vast territory, destroying approximately 210,000 buildings along a 1,287-kilometer front line and beyond.
«We used detailed analysis of multi-year satellite data to create a database of every city, every street, every building that suffered destruction. Our analysis showed that over 900 schools, hospitals, churches, and other establishments were damaged or destroyed, despite their protection under the Geneva Conventions,» the article states.
