Changes for Female Medics During Mobilization
After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ukraine declared a state of war and general mobilization. Recently, a law on mobilization was passed, which includes some changes for conscripts. In particular, lawyer Vladyslav Zaytsev explained in an interview with the publication Fakty ICTV who among female medics cannot be called up for military service.
Deferment Criteria for Female Medics
Zaytsev stated that conscripted female medics are not subject to conscription during mobilization if they:
- are reserved for the period of mobilization and during wartime in the order established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine;
- are recognized as temporarily unfit for military service for a period of up to six months based on the conclusion of the military medical board.
The lawyer added that being on reserve at an enterprise is one of the reasons for deferment from military service.
«If a female medic is reserved, then even if she agrees to conscription, she cannot be mobilized because she has a deferment. According to the law, the military commissariat does not have the authority to take her, as she is not subject to mobilization even with her consent,» Zaytsev emphasized.
