Driver with record high alcohol level of 3.22 promilles detained in Kharkiv

In Kharkiv, law enforcement officers detained a driver with an extremely high blood alcohol level

In a shocking incident on April 4 in the Saltovka district of Kharkiv, patrol officers detained a driver whose blood alcohol level was found to be 16 times higher than the legal norm. The driver, who was driving a VAZ car, was stopped for traffic violations, and upon further investigation, it was revealed that his alcohol content was at 3.22 per mille — a dangerously high level.

The driver now faces legal consequences under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses for driving under the influence. The law imposes a significant fine of 17,000 hryvnias and a one-year driving ban for a first-time offense. Repeat offenses within a year can result in even stricter penalties, including higher fines and longer driving bans.

Driving with such a high level of alcohol poses a serious threat not only to the driver themselves but also to other road users. It can lead to severe health issues such as dizziness, nausea, and impaired coordination, making it crucial for all drivers to prioritize road safety and responsible behavior behind the wheel.
