Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov approved the action plan for the implementation of the adapted Annual National Program (ANP) of cooperation with NATO for 2024.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on its Telegram channel on Friday, March 1. The program was developed to implement the agreements reached at the NATO Summit in Vilnius. Its key priority is the reform of Ukraine’s security and defense sector. «The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as the coordinator of the defense forces, must ensure systematic changes on the path to NATO membership. Implementation of the ANP measures is one of the priorities. The program’s measures take into account NATO experts’ recommendations,» emphasized the head of the department Rustem Umerov.
The agreed plan includes more than 50 measures of the Ministry of Defense within 17 goals that are to be completed this year. «Maximum attention was paid to the monitoring process of the implementation of measures. However, the document remains a flexible tool subject to annual review of priorities based on the security situation dynamics,» added the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stanislav Hayder.
As we have previously written, the Joint Center for Analysis, Training, and Education of Ukraine and NATO will be the first such institute designed to strengthen cooperation and exchange of experience between Kyiv and the Alliance.
