Republican Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy Considers US Withdrawal from NATO
One of the candidates for president from the Republican Party, Vivek Ramaswamy, has announced the possibility of the United States withdrawing from NATO in the event of his victory in the elections.
As reported by Politico, citing its sources familiar with Ramaswamy’s comments, the exit from NATO would be a decisive step that would put an end to the United States’ membership in this organization.
The press secretary of the politician’s pre-election campaign, Trisha McLaughlin, declined to directly comment on the candidate’s plans, but did not deny his position.
According to the publication, it is unlikely that Ramaswamy will be able to implement his plans while in the Cabinet. However, his views on NATO have found support among some supporters.
