Ukraine national team midfielder Taras Stepanenko commented on the team’s significant loss to Romania in the opening match of Euro 2024.

«We lost many battles. Our performance was very uncertain. I don’t understand what happened. We didn’t play as a cohesive unit. We didn’t showcase our true potential!

One goal doesn’t change anything… We were supposed to bounce back from that! I don’t know why such a mishap occurred at such a crucial moment! I believe that we can regroup and display a different game and a different attitude.»
