German police foil terrorist attack on Cologne Cathedral
On Sunday, December 31st, German police arrested three individuals who were allegedly planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Cologne Cathedral on New Year’s Eve. As reported by RBC-Ukraine citing Reuters, Cologne police clarified that the suspects in the attack were planning to use a car. The method of the attack is unknown, however, the police conducted searches in an underground car park beneath the cathedral with the help of sniffer dogs.
«Three individuals are currently in custody, which certainly eases our situation as it limits their ability to interact with each other,» noted the police. The suspects in the attack were arrested in three cities in western Germany, and communication devices were seized during searches of their apartments.
